Cramped as it is, Upstairs still manages to squeeze in a mini sushi bar and sushi chef, with enough stools for a couple or a few solo diners. Tables are tight, but the rustic banquet seating along the walls makes the most of the space; the minimal décor mainly comprises a television screen behind the open kitchen (which also doubles as a demo kitchen for demonstrations and special events).The short, changing menu reflects Bouley’s eclectic sensibilities and creativity against space constraints. On any given day, you’ll find fish and meat dishes, casual offerings like Bouley’s popular sirloin hamburger with French fries, French- and Japanese- influenced salads and desserts from the Bakery. Prices are reasonable and considered a bargain for the quality of the offerings and the Bouley name. No reservations are taken for either brunch or dinner, so it is recommended to go early or late.
