From young neighborhood hipsters to seasoned drinkers, everyone feels at ease under the warm red lights at Capone’s. The Village Voice has declared it the newest hot spot for “Williamsburg 's nouveau poor -- aspiring actors, fledgling experimental filmmakers, ambitious garage rockers, and other struggling idealists.” A recent issue of Time Out deemed Capone’s the only bar in Brooklyn worth mentioning in an article entitled “Clubs That Don’t Suck”.


Although Capone’s is brand new, the bar itself has a long and sordid history. Hand carved in 1880 by the Kelly Brothers, it was a speakeasy before finding a home at a bar in Chicago named Marge’s. Marge’s was famous for being the favorite hang out of the infamous Al Capone. Unfortunately, when the owner of Marge’s passed away it was discovered that the liquor license had lapsed and despite rallies by the neighborhood, it could not be renewed. The place was dismantled and sold and the bar inspired the entire spirit of Capone’s.
