The owner's explorations of the Jazz venues in Harlem (where he lived for many years after his arrival in New York) encouraged him to bring that energy down to the Rock 'n Roll East Village. That, and his French Army father� stories of the Jazz revolution in France, the flowering of a genre overlooked for so long in America, pushed him to try something new on St. Marks Place.
