Monkey Bar, a New York mainstay for over 70 years, has reopened with a stunning redesign and an Asian-Inspired menu from acclaimed chef Patricia Yeo. In developing the menu, Yeo referenced her international background and drew from the restaurant’s history to create tantalizing selections. A meal at Monkey Bar can trot the map: it might include Pan Roaster Black Bass with asparagus and pea and crab “egg drop soup” or Crispy Skin Salt and Pepper Chicken with a scallion pancake and apricot hoisin. Designer Stephanie Goto left the irreverent monkeys in place and reenergized the dining room with a vibrant red mural peppered with dark brown trees, bright white flowers and four monkeys set amidst the landscape. And while these monkeys may be keeping mum, they are will primed for a new generation of monkey business.
